Aries (Mar21/Apr20) Turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones over the week ahead, by breaking down problems and dealing with them one by one. Ignore any initial impression that some will be too hard to solve. This approach will only cloud your vision and crowd your imagination. Stumbling blocks will pile up making it harder for you to move on whereas with stepping stones, it's easier to jump over them. What's important is: don't persist with one way of looking at difficult issues; consider them from all angles.
 .
Taurus (Apr21/May21) People aren't ignoring you and your efforts will eventually be recognised so don't grow too impatient! It's starting to become so important to you that you prove yourself to your critics you aren't even noticing when they are impressed! It's hard to feel valued when you're so wrapped up in yourself that any compliments coming your way go in one ear and out of the other! Besides, how can you possibly fail to astound when you have so many talents at your disposal?
 .
Gemini (May22/June21) Try looking on life as a series of lessons and ask yourself what you could be getting out of your current experiences. Think about what's going right for you, what's going wrong and why some areas are failing. Through understanding the reason for any failure, you will be able to avoid similar problems in the future. Re examine what you think you know in the light of recent events, observations and experiences. You could be surprised by how much some of your ideas have changed.
 .
Cancer (June22/July23) You could use some tender loving care which is why you should let other people wait on you for a change! It's all very well running after your family and friends and attending to everyone else's needs but what about you? When your benevolence starts to interfere with personal plans and arrangements, you need to get this under control! You also need to find new ways to relax. Everyone deserves the occasional treat so don't let your conscience stop you from having a good time.
 .
Leo (July24/Aug23) Circumstances catch you off guard making you realise you aren't as in control of yourself or situation as you thought. At times like these you will feel uncertain, exposed and vulnerable but it is no bad thing to be reminded of your weaknesses. Over confidence can lead to foolish mistakes. Being taken by unawares will remind you of your responsibility to yourself and others. Good or bad, a new experience is an eye opener as you learn more about your strengths and your weaknesses.
 .
Virgo (Aug24/Sept23) You're even more serious than usual probably because of a personal change you're contemplating. Financial considerations become your primary focus. With so many personal matters on your mind you need to make it obvious you aren't interested in other people's concerns. If you're being secretive it's because you want to sort out areas in your life that are no-one's business but yours. You won't be consulting anyone about the first steps you take into a new venture; this is something you want to try out alone at first.
 .
Libra (Sept24/Oct23) You're in the difficult position of having to explain how you can love two people at the same time but not in the same way! You don't feel torn between two lovers because you feel romantic love for one and a brotherly kind of love for another. More than one love can be mutually agreeable by all and all can live in harmony. You just need to establish early on in a relationship exactly how it should be conducted. Where your problem lies is if someone is hoping for more!
 .
Scorpio (Oct24/Nov22) Listen to your intuitive thoughts when they come knocking at the door. You've always been able to rely on instinct and today is no different. If you find yourself questioning your intuitive reactions, there is no harm in checking out with logic before you act on them. A positive blend of intelligence, instinct and reason makes you skilful in recognising intuitive feelings and acting on them with success. Others could be looking to you as the authority in a group situation.
 .
Sagittarius (Nov23/Dec21) A team effort has slowly filtered down to a single remaining effort and it is you who is doing all the work. If you find yourself having to fill in for others who are unwilling to persevere, be sure you are also the one who gets all the credit. Your social prestige or professional reputation will receive a boost as others come to depend on you more and more. You are about to gain the recognition you deserve for your past efforts and current endeavours.
 .
Capricorn (Dec22/Jan20) Be selective about who you connect or disconnect with at this time of endings and new beginnings. You've always found change difficult but there comes a time when you've got all you can out of some situations and greener pastures look more appealing. New goals will bring new experiences. Be certain to take advantage of introductions to contacts necessary to make your dreams come true. You should also try to enjoy the process of getting there as much as the final results.
 .
Aquarius (Jan21/Feb19) A competitor or jealous rival could start stirring up trouble as a way to distract you from your aims. You've always been good at reading people so by staying alert you could sidestep any problems. Hang back and watch what others say and do before deciding on your own actions. If this is a rival in love, you might take a risk by allowing your lover to choose between you or another. At least this way you will know whether or not their love is sincere!
 .
Pisces (Feb20/Mar20) A new interest or endeavour will give you a fresh outlook on life just when you happen to need it. You might come across a money spinning idea that involves a hobby or special interest. This will help you earn through doing something you love. You should not allow anyone who takes an interest in your work think they can take over. To be successful you must do things at your own pace. Your resourceful ideas are bringing benefits your way without anyone else having to interfere!

Libra - Daily stars for today 25 September 2011 - www.shelleyvonstrunckel.com

There are subtle ways to deal with issues. While ordinarily there's be no problem taking this approach, at the moment it's far too risky. A great deal hangs on these matters and, therefore, you want to ensure they've been dealt with properly. And that means ensuring everything is crystal clear.
.
Your stars for the week beginning 25 September 2011

The presence of your ruler Venus, the Sun and Mercury in your sign is boosting your spirits, if not making you impatient. Still, any lasting decisions should wait until after Tuesday`s Libra New Moon. This endows you with a fresh perspective on both existing arrangements and recent rather unsettling events. That, blended with your current optimism, gives you the confidence to tackle perplexing situations and decisions.

The Painted Veil (2006 film)

Filming took place on location in China. The director did not want to build a set for the cholera-stricken village, instead seeking out an untouched parcel of land in China. He found Huang Yao, which served as the location for the village. The director described the location, "Even the Chinese crew members were amazed at the place we found... It was like going back in time." According to Nyswaner, a large amount of time of the film production was spent negotiating with the Chinese government for the completion of the film, as there were disagreements over issues in the script. Most of the film was shot in Guilin, Guangxi. Director John Curran commented, "We wanted this movie to be distinctly Chinese. We didn’t want it to look like a film that you could shoot in Canada or Mexico or Italy."
